(6 months (Fixed-Term) employment contract)

Starting date:  1 July 2024

The Project Associate will assist HD’s China-related projects, with a focus on a project on AI and a project on China’s engagement in the field of mediation.

Responsibilities are:

  • Conduct analytical research and daily media monitoring of evolving international contexts and China’s policy development in AI and China’s engagement in the conflict mediation field;
  • Contribute to designing HD dialogues (seminars, workshops, roundtables, etc.), take notes and draft meeting reports;
  • Assist in organizing dialogue events together with logistician;
  • Support the identification of relevant stakeholders, and participate in (preliminary) consultations to help develop and refine ideas for project purposes;
  • Serve as a point of contact between HD HQ in Geneva, regional offices and HD China team on China-related work and enquiries and support the team in maintaining the network of interlocutors and experts in China.
  • Assist in drafting project/fundraising proposals, budgets and narrative reports, and project reporting-related documents;
  • Assist in day-to-day grant and financial management of the project, including budgeting, development of financial documentation and financial reports, as well as monitoring grant requirements to ensure eligibility of costs under close supervision of the supervisor;
  • Travel, as necessary, for meetings and for consultations in preparation for meetings.

Requirements are:

The ideal candidate should have at least a bachelor or  master’s degree in international relations, political science, peace and conflicts, international law, or equivalent and at least three years of related work experience.

The candidate should have experience in researching, analysing and writing on political contexts, strong research and analytical skills, strong command of written and spoken English, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and proficient in written and spoken Mandarin/Chinese.

The position will report to Senior Programme Manager and will be based in Geneva, Switzerland.
