Starting date: July 2024 – 12 months (renewable)

The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) has been working in Nigeria since 2013 mediating for peace across Middle Belt and North East States. HD has recorded significant strides in its efforts while working closely with top level stakeholders and communities using a multi prong strategy of bottom-up and top to bottom approaches in order to ensure that its efforts bring lasting peace. The approach is inclusive and ensures participation at all levels including women, youth and people living with disability. To date, HD has successful facilitated five formal inter-communal dialogue processes in Jos, Southern Plateau, southern Kaduna, Agatu and Konshisha and Oju areas of Benue state. The intercommunal dialogues have culminated in the signing of peace declarations/agreement which communities are currently implementing with support from HD. In the North east, HD facilitated the drafting of an Alternative Narrative (AN) document, that is widely accepted and is utilized as a tool for dialogue and reconciliation by a cross section of stakeholders including state and non-state actors. Moreover, in view of the worsening impacts of climate change on conflict situations, HD has piloted and facilitate climate-focused peace processes that have culminated in the signing of resource sharing peace agreements in Benue state.
