Claudio Habicht joined HD as a Programme Manager in 2021. Prior, he had worked for 10 years as a Swiss diplomat, with a focus on mediation support and mediation activities in Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus. He served at the Swiss Permanent Mission to the OSCE, the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna. In 2020, he was seconded to the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship as a Senior Adviser where he dealt with the conflicts in Ukraine and Moldova. Before moving to Vienna, he was the Deputy Head of the Peace Policy Unit at the Swiss Foreign Ministry covering the conflicts in the Eurasia region. Previous postings include Deputy Head of Unit for the bilateral relations with Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and Peace Building Adviser at the Swiss Embassy in Tbilisi. Before he joined the Swiss Foreign Ministry, Claudio worked as an assistant editor and as a journalist. He holds a Master’s Degree in Slavic Linguistics and Literature, Media Studies and Political Science from the University of Zurich.
