Ten years since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution which called for women to be better represented in peacemaking, slow progress is being made on including substantive gender-specific content and language in peace agreements.

In this opinion, the fourth in the series published as part of the ‘Women at the Peace Table Asia Pacific’ project, Dr Catherine O’Rourke and Prof. Christine Bell of the Transitional Justice Institute (Ulster University) share their joint opinions based on intensive research of peace agreements since 1990. Their study of 585 peace agreements reveals that SCR 1325 has had mixed impact in improving clauses related to women’s rights and gender.
