“It’s an honour to receive the Humanthropy Global Peacebuilding Award 2025,” said Dr David Harland, Executive Director of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD). “Conflict and humanitarian needs are rising sharply around the world, and the world needs new ways to address the urgent challenges. DIHAD, Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development, is helping reimagine and re-engineer a humanitarian system adapted to the world of today. This Award exemplifies that quest for a better world.”

The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue is an independent foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland. HD specialises in low-profile mediation efforts to end armed conflicts and to mitigate human suffering caused by war. Its guiding principles are humanity and impartiality. It is known for its innovative multi-level mediation processes and for its willingness to engage all stakeholders in armed conflict.

The Humanthropy Global Peacebuilding Award supported by DIHAD, is awarded to an individual or organisation who has displayed extraordinary actions in promoting peace and reconciliation in humanitarian and crisis situations. The award recognises HD’s bold, adaptive work in building peace and highlights its innovative multi-level mediation processes and commitment to engaging all stakeholders in armed conflicts.

HD has been credited for its role in the Libya ceasefire declaration, the Black Sea grain initiative, the dissolution of the Basque armed group ETA, mediation efforts to end the war in Tigray, Ethiopia, and many others. HD has also been recognised for its work on humanitarian access in war zones and on climate-accelerated conflicts.
