Background
HD’s success relies on solid foundational systems to support and protect its operations. Our compliance programme includes a strong focus on sanctions and counterterrorism law compliance and legal risk management in a rapidly changing geopolitical context with increasingly complex and divergent regulatory environment. As a Swiss headquartered organisation, Swiss data sovereignty and security are at the heart of HD’s digital strategy.
Within this strategy, we are seeking to evaluate options to enhance our vetting tools that meet out operational needs and align with our strategy for Swiss-based solutions. HD is seeking to evaluate available solutions that:
- ensure HD customer data is processed and stored in Swiss jurisdiction (including backups);
- do not present risks of legal compulsion of disclosure of HD customer data (e.g., application of extraterritorial laws such as the US CLOUD Act); and
- provide flexibility for future change with clear procedures for data portability and migration in open formats to prevent vendor lock-in.
The Brief
Under the direction and guidance of the HD Legal & Compliance Advisor, the selected candidate shall provide the following deliverables:
- report on an assessment the current operating environment to understand HD’s needs: evaluation of current tools and solutions,
- define selection criteria for ideal solutions, research and short-list potential suppliers, facilitate vendor demonstrations and deliver recommendations for tool(s), implementation road-map, risk assessment and estimated timeline and budget.
The work will include reviewing technical fit, cost, integration capabilities, and ability to fit with HD’s long-term compliance needs. Further refinements of the scope of work and deliverable requirements will be discussed and agreed with the selected successful candidate.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education
- Qualifications in law, compliance and/or information technology or related disciplines are required.
Experience
- Several years’ experience in a legal or compliance or technical role and an excellent knowledge of best practices in due diligence and compliance programmes.
- Understanding of sanctions and counterterrorism law issues from a compliance management perspective.
- Technical knowledge of SaaS and screening tools.
- Prior experience with multiple screening tools, including knowledge of Swiss-based solutions.
Competencies and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, project management and organizational skills, with experience managing virtual and hybrid processes.
- Advanced analytical and report writing skills, able to produce clear, concise, and implementable reports and recommendations.
- Fluency in English is required.
Additional Requirements
- The candidate must not be currently engaged by or an agent for a screening tool supplier.
- Limited travel within Switzerland may be required.
- Registered to provide the services as an external independent contractor in compliance with Swiss labour law.
