Intern for the Oslo Forum team

Based in Geneva – 100%

September – December 2025

Since 2003, the Oslo Forum has grown to become the pre-eminent, agenda-setting retreat in the field of international peacemaking. Co-hosted by the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Oslo Forum regularly convenes conflict mediators, peacemakers, high level decision-makers and key peace process actors in a series of informal and discreet retreats. Past participants have included António Guterres, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Retno Marsudi, Juan Manuel Santos, and Catherine Ashton. Oslo Forum events are complemented by Oslo Forum publications and podcasts that provide insights, guidance, and thought leadership across a range of issues in conflict mediation and peacemaking.

The intern will be part of a small team, situated within the Mediation Support and Policy Unit (MESU), working on the preparation and delivery of Oslo Forum events, and will assist with logistics, publications, and reporting.

Reporting to the Oslo Forum Project Manager, specific tasks may include:

  • Providing logistical support in the organisation of Oslo Forum events (in relation to invitations, bookings, suppliers, local transport, and practical information for participants);
  • Helping to prepare and co-ordinate sessions during Oslo Forum events, including contributing to background research, and preparing briefing material;
  • Helping to prepare and co-ordinate publications associated with Oslo Forum events, including: research on potential content and authors; drafting, copy-editing, and proof-reading; and liaising with authors, suppliers, and HD colleagues;
  • Attending relevant Oslo Forum events and supporting the team during the events;
  • Assisting with reporting requirements after Oslo Forum events; and
  • Supporting other Oslo Forum projects and tasks within the wider MESU team, as needed.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Interest in and awareness of trends in international relations, peacemaking, and armed conflict;
  • Prior experience in planning and organising complex events with multiple stakeholders;
  • Excellent oral and written English skills; Arabic skills an asset; publishing and editing experience a clear asset;
  • Prior experience in a client or customer-facing role an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail; excellent organisational and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong research and analytical skills;
  • Results-oriented; ability to multi-task and work autonomously; and
  • Strong team spirit and enthusiasm.

In compliance with Swiss regulations, HD will only consider applications if one of the following criteria is met:

  • If the internship is required for a diploma;
  • If the internship is undertaken after the completion of an initial course of study (Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree) and is meant to help the intern choose a further course of study (Master’s/ Doctoral degree) (an attestation from the second school will be requested);
  • If the candidate is currently doing a career transition within the framework of an official federal or cantonal scheme (unemployment internship programme).

The candidate will receive a stipend during their internship.
