Regional Director - Asia-Pacific (APAC)

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and inspiration for a talented team of staff and consultants working on resolving and preventing conflict in Southeast and Northeast Asia.
Key responsibilities would include:
- Providing strategic vision and a flair for creative private diplomacy to resolve and prevent conflict in the region producing clear and measurable results.
- Leading within HD as a member of the Senior Management Team and contributing to thematic and strategic debates for the organisation as a whole.
- Collaborating with other HD Regional Directors on cross-regional projects where relevant.
- Managing, developing, supporting and caring for APAC staff.
- Leading on the development of project proposals, oversee budgets and project reporting as required.
- Developing and building relationships at the high level and with key interlocutors, including governments, politicians, conflict parties, civil society representatives, and other stakeholders in the region.
- Facilitating dialogue among conflict parties and other relevant actors.
- Contributing to policy discussions on peace and conflict issues in Asia both internally and within the wider peacemaking community in the region, with an ability to represent HD publicly when appropriate.
- Leading on fundraising for the APAC team. Including networking and representing HD with donors, developing broader donor relations in the region, diversifying funding, and overseeing fundraising for the continuation of existing activities and new streams of work.
The ideal candidate would have:
- Minimum 15 years of leadership experience in the INGO/non-profit sector, foreign policy, security, government engagement, or related fields.
- Combination of diplomatic skills, understanding of mediation and peacemaking and a flair for programming.
- A strong grasp of strategic trends and cross-cutting issues in the region and beyond.
- Deep knowledge of APAC region.
- More than a decade of experience working as a mediator or in a related field.
- Speak one or more Asian language
- Experience in managing large teams across different cultures and linguistic areas.
- Experience in fundraising for programs
- Possess a creative flair for conceiving ideas and an ability to inspire both the teams and be persuasive with interlocutors.
- Ability to lead, develop, motivate and support staff.
- Strong relationship building skills at the political level, with organisations, and with partners.
The position is based in Singapore or Asia with the successful candidate being permitted to work from home/Hybrid. Frequent travel is expected, both domestically and internationally. This position would report to the Executive Director for HD.
