HD is developing a podcast series exploring the intersection of technology and armed conflict — from autonomous weapons and cyber operations to AI-driven warfare, and the digitalisation of the battlefield. The podcast will explore what the digital transformation of warfare means for the diplomats, soldiers, civilians and peacemakers of our time.

The series brings together leading voices from the world of conflict – military, government, diplomats, civil society and the private sector – to provide human-centred stories interrogating how emerging technologies are reshaping the nature of conflict and the prospects for peace.

We are looking for a consultant to provide research, editorial and logistical support in shaping and delivering the series.

If you are curious about the changing nature of warfare, eager to contribute to an exciting new project and have a passion for podcasting, apply now.

The consultant will provide:

Research & Editorial:

  • In-depth research on topics at the intersection of technology and warfare, including cyber conflict, artificial intelligence, drone warfare, disinformation and satellite technology;
  • Draft episode outlines, suggested interview questions, and narrative arcs in coordination with the producer;
  • Monitoring reports on developments in the technology and security space to identify timely and relevant episode topics;
  • Detailed briefing notes and episode research packs for hosts and guests ahead of recordings;

Production support:

  • Identification, mapping and outreach to potential guests;
  • Support on logistics of episode production, including coordinating guest schedules, recording sessions and follow-up communications;
  • Redaction and dissemination of accompanying written content, including show notes, summaries and social media materials.

You might be the right person for this consultancy if you:

  • Hold a university degree in international relations, security studies, political science, technology policy, journalism or a related field,
  • Have strong research and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to synthesise complex technical and geopolitical material into accessible, compelling content;
  • Are genuinely interested in the theme of technology and warfare, and comfortable engaging with both the technical and the political dimensions of the subject;
  • Have excellent oral and written English communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, engaging editorial content;
  • Are a strong communicator with the interpersonal skills to build relationships with senior experts and busy practitioners;
  • Are entrepreneurial, work well independently and bring creative instincts to editorial and research challenges.
  • Prior experience in audio journalism, podcast production or conflict research would be an asset.

If you are interested in this position and meet the above criteria, please send your CV (max 2 pages) together with an expression of interest (maximum 750 words) outlining your relevant experience and method. Please also include your proposed financial offer.

All materials should be submitted in one single PDF file to hrgeneva@hdcentre.org by 31st May 2026. Please indicate “RTC Podcast” in the subject line of your e-mail.
