In the report, Asif R. Khan looks back on an ambitious period in international peacemaking and extracts lessons from that time for mediators facing a very different multilateral reality today.
Khan is Officer in Charge of the Policy & Mediation Division in the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs. He was also an adjunct lecturer at Columbia University and most recently a visiting fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) in Oslo.
