New peace agreement signed between farmers and herders in Niger

The article describes how after years of violent clashes that deprived many people of their livelihoods, HD spent 8 months facilitating discussions that led to an important peace agreement signed on the 9th June 2026. The agreement includes commitments to clear the cattle corridors of dwellings, watch over livestock and put an end to night transhumance, considered one of the main sources of conflict in the area.

L’article décrit comment après des années d’affrontements violents ayant fait de nombreux morts, HD a facilité pendant huit mois un processus de médiation qui a abouti, le 9 juin, à un accord de paix majeur. Cet accord prévoit notamment l’engagement de libérer les couloirs de transhumance de toute habitation, surveiller le bétail et mettre fin à la transhumance nocturne pour prévenir la destruction des cultures, considérés comme les principales sources de conflit dans la région.
